There is a critical need to provide peace education as content knowledge in an effort to equip our students with a repertoire of positive strategies that will enable them to make better choices when conflicts seem unavoidable and to respond positively to their current, often negative, circumstances. There is a great need to enhance the current K-12 curriculum. The National Association for Peace Education may be instrumental in providing an essential tool to strengthen the fiber of K-12 schools in the city, region and beyond. condense text

I am honored and delighted to serve as the National Association of Peace Education2009-2010 President. The opportunity to provide the leadership for this most outstanding and substitutive organization is truly humbling.NAPE vision needed globally because of the level of youth, schools and family violence currently occurring at all levels in our society.My goals and objectives as president of NAPE is to infused Peace Education content knowledge throughout the educational arena.Our major goals for this year are as follows:
·To become models of positive thinking, creating an atmosphere were all human beings are treating each other with dignity and positive regard.
·Torespect all people from all walks of life
·To continueresearch in peace education and anti-violence
·To utilized research as a tool to improve the quality of life in a global society.
The 2009-2010 themes for NAPE are “Peace Education is the Answer to Creating a Society Were Everyone is Peace Makers and Advocates for Non-violence”.
